In September 2007, Kevin had the opportunity to attend the international Stone Foundation Symposium on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Spain, in the beautiful village of Deia. The 7th annual "gathering of the tribe," included learning age-old stone laying techniques in the traditional Mallorcan style. For one week, over 40 skilled stone aficionados from around the world worked together to restore an ancient retaining wall and build a mountain bridle path (see pictures below). The second week of the Symposium welcomed reknown guest speakers to discuss such topics as architecture, stone cutting, and construction.
Thank You to Mallorca's own Miguel Ramis for these wonderful pictures!
